"Why can’t the same yard stick be applied to western food in regard to cancer causing agents evident in just about every food?"

If a legitimate source pointed this type of information out to me, I certainly wouldn't dismiss it lightly.

"Tuna consumption has been extremely high in this country for centuries, and yet you don’t see people crawling around retarded foaming at the mouth because of mercury poisoning"

I may be wrong, but I think industrial pollution of the oceans hasn't been around for too many centuries ;)

I think the whole article in unfair to the consumer. Why can't the same yard stick be applied to western food in regard to cancer causing agents evident in just about every food ? Tuna consumption has been extremely high in this country for centuries, and yet you don't see people crawling around retarded foaming at the mouth because of mercury poisoning.

Well, I can kind of understand how the Japanese are feeling about this a little. I do wonder if taking a small amount of mercury will cause long term damage? Hell, taking in any amount of toxic mercury is bad for a person but how much do you have to pass through your body to have a real effect. Now, I do know that mercury can effect the brain in some really bad ways over time.
