Images of Tohoku’s Iwate
Back in the late spring of 2004 I went to Shimoda to do a little surfing. It was beautiful and a lot of fun and immediately overtook Togane, Chiba as the place in Japan I wanted to move to. The place is green, has great waves, and has the best sushi I’ve ever had (but I didn’t pay for that dinner so I’ll bet if I dropped more money I could find good sushi just about anywhere in Japan). Talking about this makes me regret not getting down there again.

I recently found a place that makes me feel as relaxed. There is a city outside Morioka, Iwate named Shizuku-shi that is fairly expansive and has a mountain range running through the city limits. If I could ever get a job up there that would support my lifestyle, I think I’d move in a heartbeat. Of course, I’d still need to come up with the funds to buy a small farm and actually farm the land since that’s what it takes to live in this community. But with these views, I’d do it in a heartbeat.
Maybe I should cash in my change jar and see how much I have.
