Letting Go

By Billy W 6 July 2009 16 Comments

JapanBloggerThis year is one of big changes for me. It’s only halfway over, but I’m sure that my lifestyle will continue to change drastically over the next six months.

The biggest change I’ve made so far is resigning my current position at the company I work for. While the work isn’t difficult, it’s not for me and I’ve come to the point where I need to move on. I’ll finish up work at the end of this month and then I’ll take a much needed 1 – 2 month break, during which I’ll be making the necessary adjustments for life as a self-employed man (Nope, not going to elaborate on that).

Also, I’d like to thank everyone who visited and registered at JapanBlogger over the last year. It was nice to see it put to good use. I originally put it together for fun and to use it as a blog index, but other people started using it as well and I’ve updated it from time to time with new Japan blogs. However, other sites have come along that offer a better way to browse blogs that cover all things Japan, so I’ve decided it’s time to let go of JapanBlogger.net.
Again, thanks to those that participated there.

Of course, I’ll be keeping this site going for awhile as it’s my regular Japan blog. I know I’ve been a little remiss in posting here lately, but I hope to update 7:10 to Tokyo more frequently from now on.

Cheers!

    Billy-san,

    As long as you are making the right moves for you that’s all that matters. I’m glad you keeping 7:10 though - I like reading that! Whatever you’re up to I wish you the best of luck with it - I’m sure you will be a success : )

    Go for it, dude. Best advice I ever got when I went independent was “do it slow, and do it right”. And make sure you take a proper break while you can - a month isn’t enough.

    @Chris

    I’m glad I read your comment above. Sometimes the simplest advice is the best.

    In addition to Chris’s comment right above this one, I would suggest traveling around Japan if you can afford it. I regret not doing more of it when I had the chance.

    Thanks.
    Definitely right about taking it slow. I mean, slow and steady wins the race, right?
    I will likely take a two-month break, at least. Need some real down time to think things through very carefully.

    @Tom:
    Might get out to some nature spots here in Japan, but I’ll be spending most of my break out of the country. Hard to believe, but I haven’t been out of Japan for well over three years.

    I’m right there with you on that. It’s about time I got away for a while too.
