They caught him, but not because they were actually trying.

If the perp isn’t a speeder (non-Bosozoku) or a drunk driver, the cops don’t feel particularly motivated to collar a suspect.

The official charge of abandoning a body is par for the course. I’m no expert on Japan law, but I’m sure it has to be easier to get the arrest warrant quickly when circumstantial evidence points most strongly to an act. Abandoning a body is pretty cut and dried, the elements of the crime being few and easy enough to prove to a reasonable degree of certainty.

Hope they’re building a good case for a murder charge, but knowing the confession rate is so high here, it’s likely they’ll go for that first.

It bothers me that he has still only “officially” been charged with abandoning a body. BTW the bathtub is more sinister than it may first appear. It actually wasn’t sand that he used but some kind of decomposition material similar to lime. I guess the idea was that if left long enough the body would fully decompose. Anyway, they got him let’s just hope the Keystone cops don’t lose him like they did 2 years ago.

Yeah, what that guy did is so far beyond imagination, I don’t blame you. The murdered kid’s father said it was so hard to walk around knowing he could be just steps away from the guy who did that to his child.
